Lefferts Community
Food Co-op Mission

The Lefferts Community Food Co-op (LCFC) is a designated Cooperative Corporation under New York State law. We are a member-owned and -operated food store open to all. Our mission is to sell sustainable, nutritious food at a good value, to encourage healthy food practices and to foster environmentally responsible activities through democratic cooperation.

Lefferts Community Food Co-op focuses on serving residents of Flatbush, Prospect Lefferts Gardens, and Crown Heights, as well as to the larger New York City metropolitan area.

Where We Are Located

LCFC is located at 324 Empire Boulevard, between Rogers and Nostrand Avenues in Prospect Lefferts Gardens, on a major shopping avenue. It is conveniently located around the corner from the 2/5 Sterling Street subway stop and at a limited bus stop.

Who We Serve

LCFC is open to anyone to join as a member and the co-op serves its active working members. You must be a member to shop at the co-op (why?).

LCFC finds strength in the diversity of the community around us and commits to a selection of healthy foods and promotion of healthy eating that respects this. We oppose discrimination in any form. We happily welcome all who agree with our objectives, believe in the values of cooperative work, honesty, openness, and social responsibility, and who are willing to participate in the enrichment of the community around them.

We need people to help with our planning and development process. Join a working group addressing both strategy and implementation, together with the board of directors. There is a project for anyone with any type of experience! Find out how to help »
